Gary Tyler Ewen, affectionately known as “Bubba,” passed away on June 5, 2026, in Elgin, Illinois, at the age of 37. His passing has left family, friends, and all who knew him with deep sorrow, as they reflect on a life that, though far too short, was filled with love, warmth, and meaningful connection.
Born on July 6, 1988, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois, Gary grew into a young man defined by his kind heart, spirited personality, and unwavering faith. He carried himself with sincerity and openness, qualities that allowed him to form genuine bonds with those around him. To know Gary was to feel seen, valued, and appreciated—an impact that many will carry with them forever.
Gary attended Lake Park High School, graduating in 2006. His school years were marked by friendships and experiences that remained important throughout his life, helping shape his character and outlook. Beyond academics, he found joy and expression in football, art, music, and writing. Whether cheering for the game, creating art, humming a tune, or expressing his thoughts on paper, Gary embraced creativity and passion in everything he did.
His love for football reflected his energy and enthusiasm, while his artistic and musical interests revealed a thoughtful, reflective side. Writing allowed him to share his inner world, offering glimpses of his imagination and perspective. These passions were not just hobbies but extensions of who he was—expressions of a vibrant and compassionate spirit.
Gary is lovingly survived by family members who meant the world to him, including Jon (Kathy), Tina, Jeffery, Nicholas (Candice), RaeAnn (Claudia), Tanner, and Athena. Each shared a unique and cherished bond with him, forming a strong foundation of love and belonging throughout his life.
Above all, Gary valued family, faith, and connection. He will be remembered for his kindness, his smile, and the comfort of his presence. Even in grief, those who loved him find peace in the memories he created and the love he gave so freely.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 4:15 PM at Bucaro Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 485 W. Army Trail Rd, Bloomingdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Church in Bloomingdale.
